Vision and Mission

The vision of the Discovery Elementary School counseling program is that all students recognize their true value and worth, and strive to become lifelong learners and productive global citizens who are equipped to overcome real-world challenges.

Our mission is to provide equitable access to a data-informed comprehensive school counseling program, which includes developmentally-appropriate social/emotional learning (SEL) instruction, short-term individual and small group counseling, and college and career readiness activities. 

Meet the School Counselor

Mrs. Ching

Welcome to the the Discovery Elementary school counseling website! My name is Kristen Ching, aka Mrs. Ching. I have had the pleasure of being Discovery’s school counselor since 2014. Prior to joining Mukilteo School District, I was a classroom teacher in Hawai'i and a school counselor for Tacoma Public Schools. While my work has primarily been in an elementary school setting, my educational background is also in mental health counseling for children and families.
