Welcome to Discovery Elementary, where our mission is to ensure high levels of learning for each student. I am Principal Shannon Koehnen, and I am honored to lead this incredible school community. At Discovery Elementary, we are driven by a set of core values and a vision for the future that guides our actions every day.

Our vision is to create a diverse, inclusive, and thriving learning community where every student feels valued, supported, and inspired to reach their highest potential. We celebrate multilingual learners and view diversity as an asset that enriches the educational experience for all. To achieve our shared vision, we emphasize the importance of collaboration among our dedicated staff, students, families, and the community. We work together as a school community to ensure that each child thrives and feels a deep sense of belonging in our school. Together, we can unlock the doors to success and provide a brighter future for all our students.

My own educational philosophy centers on inclusivity, equity, and the belief in every child's potential. Regardless of their background or language proficiency, every student deserves access to a high-quality education that ignites their curiosity, fosters their love for learning, and prepares them for a promising future. I bring over three decades of educational experience to my role, including teaching in both general and special education settings and serving as an administrator in elementary and middle schools. I am excited to embark on my seventh year as the Proud Principal of Discovery Elementary.
